Chennai- based spacetech startup Agnikul Cosmos is in talks to raise between USD 50M to USD 75M at a valuation of about USD 500 million, as India's private space sector dreams to expand.
The fundraising, still in a preliminary phase, has involved discussions with Avataar Ventures and other important stakeholders. The round would effectively extend Agnikul's Series C financing at a valuation of approximately USD 17M, raised in November 2025.
Recently, in March, Tamil Nadu’s state investment arm, TIDCO, invested Rs 25Cr, approximately USD 2.65 M in spacetech startup Agnikul, signalling a strong state-level backing for the space tech industry. Meanwhile, India’s private space sector is attracting financial support from investors. Tracxn data shows funding in India’s private space sector rose to USD 155M across 55 deals in 2025.
Agnikul’s fundraising ambitions are powered by breakthrough achievements in the spacetech industry. In May 2024, the company launched Agnibaan SOrTeD rocket, rewriting several global records.

Agnibaan SOrTeD rocket became the world’s first rocket to be powered by a single-piece 3D engine, India’s fist semi- cryogenic rocket launch and India’s first rocket to take off from India’s first private launch pad Dhanush. These records weren’t just symbolic firsts; they tested Agnikul’s in-house systems under real flight conditions.
The company is backed up by the technical expertise of over 200 engineers and guidance from 45 former scientists of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).
The company’s 3D printed one-piece one-metre-long Agnite booster engine can reduce the manufacturing time up to a week. Angnikul has also announced a partnership with Indian cloud computing company NeevCloud to build a proof-of-concept model for a space-based AI data centre.
