India’s clean energy push gained momentum today as Jakson Green signed a green ammonia supply deal with Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) to deliver 85,000 metric tonnes per annum.
This green ammonia supply deal is part of the government-backed National Green Hydrogen Mission, aimed at cutting emissions in hard-to-abate sectors like fertilizers.
The agreement will see green ammonia supplied to Coromandel International’s facility in Kakinada. The project replaces conventional grey ammonia, which relies on fossil fuels, with a cleaner alternative produced using renewable energy. This shift is expected to significantly reduce carbon emissions tied to fertilizer production.

Jakson Green secured the capacity through a competitive bidding process under SECI’s Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) scheme. The long-term contract ensures stable demand while supporting India’s goal of becoming a global hub for green hydrogen and its derivatives.
The green ammonia supply deal highlights growing industry confidence in clean fuel technologies. With agriculture heavily dependent on ammonia-based fertilizers, this move directly links energy transition efforts to food security and sustainability.
India is rapidly building a green hydrogen ecosystem, with policy support and large-scale contracts driving investment. Deals like this not only help decarbonize domestic industries but also position the country to tap into future export markets for clean fuels.
As demand rises, partnerships between developers and public agencies are expected to play a key role in scaling production and lowering costs, making green ammonia a viable alternative worldwide.
