India’s manufacturing landscape begins the day with fresh investments, policy moves, and technology-led expansion across key sectors.
Tamil Nadu has emerged as a major investment destination for renewable energy and electric mobility projects. Meanwhile, India’s rare earth magnet program has attracted strong industry participation through 20 bids. Policy changes are also reshaping the mining sector and its fiscal framework.
NITI Aayog has outlined cluster-based manufacturing as a pathway toward global competitiveness. The automotive sector is advancing through digital manufacturing and improved customer services. Energy storage also gains momentum with a major export order for battery storage infrastructure.
The Hinduja Group will invest INR 2,500 crore in Tamil Nadu across renewable energy, electric mobility, automotive, and financial services. The investment will also cover battery charging infrastructure and digital mobility solutions. Hinduja Renewables Energy plans to develop more than 200 MW of solar, wind, and battery projects. The commitment builds on the group’s earlier INR 7,500 crore MoU for Tamil Nadu’s EV ecosystem.
"Our INR 2,500 crore commitment is a statement of our confidence in Tamil Nadu and our desire to participate in its next phase of growth. With its strong industrial base, talent and renewable energy potential, Tamil Nadu is well positioned to lead India's energy and mobility transition. We look forward to building on our long-standing association with the state and working with the Government of Tamil Nadu to create lasting value through investments in clean energy, electric mobility and other emerging opportunities," said Ashok Hinduja, Chairman, Hinduja Group of Companies (India).
India’s INR 7,280 crore rare earth magnet manufacturing scheme has received 20 bids from major industry players. Larsen & Toubro, Coal India, ReNew, and several specialized manufacturers are among the bidders. The program aims to create 6,000 metric tonnes per annum of integrated rare earth magnet capacity. It seeks to reduce import dependence and strengthen supplies for EVs, electronics, renewable energy, and defense.
Parliament has approved the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026. The legislation places conditions on states imposing taxes, cess, or other levies on mineral rights and mineral-bearing land. The government said excessive fiscal burdens can reduce mining viability and discourage mineral extraction. It also stated that states will remain the primary beneficiaries of mining revenues.
JSW Greentech has selected Dassault Systèmes’ DELMIA Apriso platform for its upcoming EV manufacturing facility. The manufacturing execution system will connect production execution, quality control, and material tracking. The digital system will create a connected, real-time foundation across the plant floor. It is expected to reduce manual data handling and support production ramp-up for electric trucks and buses.
"Our partnership with Dassault Systèmes and its MES platform brings global expertise and digital capabilities to our manufacturing ecosystem," said Sumit Mittal, CEO, JSW Greentech Limited.
"The future of sustainable mobility in India depends on how efficiently we can scale clean transportation. By building its production around a connected digital backbone from day one, JSW Greentech is driving this transition," said Deepak NG, Managing Director, India, Dassault Systèmes.
NITI Aayog has recommended cluster-based manufacturing and integrated industrial parks to strengthen India’s manufacturing capabilities. The approach would provide shared infrastructure, utilities, and faster approvals for manufacturers. The think tank identified 12 sectors where India could target global leadership by 2047. Chemicals, textiles, telecom equipment, and solar PV are covered in the study’s first volume.
