Hitachi Construction Machinery Invests $3M in Mining AI

Hitachi Construction Machinery has announced a USD 3 million strategic investment in Rithmik Solutions Ltd., a Canada-based artificial intelligence company focused on advanced data analytics for mining equipment.

The relocation enhances the effort of Hitachi Construction Machinery to provide smarter and data-driven solutions that enhance the performance of machines, decrease down time, and lessen the operating expenses at mine sites across the globe.

Rithmik Solutions create AI-based technology that transforms big amounts of machine data into simple insights that can be utilized. Its platform assists mining teams to identify a chance of discomfort with equipment early enough and therefore the maintenance crews can intervene before an incident occurs. This practice helps to maintain more stable work and have a longer life of equipment within large mining stables.

Simon Wilson, Chief Operating Officer of Hitachi Construction Machinery Americas, said Rithmik Solutions’ open-platform approach and advanced analytics capabilities closely align with Hitachi’s long-term vision. He noted that the partnership supports the company’s goal of delivering solutions that directly address customer challenges while improving operational efficiency across mining fleets.

The AI applications will be incorporated into LANDCROS Connect Insight, which is a real-time monitoring system of Hitachi. The system will also predict root causes instead of just alerts with Rithmik analytics to recommend proactive maintenance steps before the asset could have worsened and allow the management of asset health and reliability.

As part of the demonstration testing between August 2024 and July 2025, data were examined of 40 dump trucks and six ultra-large hydraulic excavators at an active mine site. The outcomes validated the proper identification of early anomalies to effectively take corrective measures on minimizing the unplanned downtime and lifecycle expenses.
