Hindustan Power has entered into a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd (UPPCL) over a 435 MW solar project in an important milestone in the state gaunging towards renewable energy.
The announcement on the long-term contract today will guarantee clean electricity to the Uttar Pradesh over the next 25 years, and this underscores the purported commitments of the state to green electricity.
The project is a direct current (MW DC) solar project of 435 MW and is to be developed in Uttar Pradesh which is in line with the massive goal set by the government to reach 22,000 MW of clean energy capacity by FY27.

The project was awarded to Hindustan Power upon winning the bid in April 2025 conducted by UPPCL which indicates its dominance in the solar energy market in India. In addition to providing sustainable power, the project is likely to create local job opportunities and increase economic development within the area it will benefit through an improved more sustainable energy ecosystem.
Besides giving a shot in the arm to the portfolio of renewable energy produced by Hindustan Power, this strategic shift also helps the state of Uttar Pradesh in cementing itself further as a leader in solar power generation, and in legitimizing its plans towards clean energy through practical measures.
