Embraer and Adani Defence & Aerospace have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to build a Regional Transport Aircraft ecosystem in India, marking a major step for domestic aviation.
The agreement will consider the aircraft production, supply chain building, training pilot and aftermarket services with an obvious emphasis on enhancing the local competencies and achieving the objective of regional connectivity in India.
The partners will consider establishing an aircraft assembly line in India according to the agreement. This will be accompanied by gradual rise in local production and sourcing. The initiative is in line with the Regional Transport Aircraft (RTA) programme of India and is aligned to national agendas of Aatmanirbhar Bharat and the UDAN scheme to enhance air connectivity to Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.

“India is a key market for Embraer, and this collaboration brings together our aerospace expertise with Adani’s strong industrial capabilities and focus on localization,” said Arjan Meijer, President and CEO, Embraer Commercial Aviation. “Together, we will assess advanced and efficient solutions that can support India’s regional aviation goals.”
Adani has a presence of aviation through the airport infrastructure, aerospace manufacturing, maintenance and repair service and pilot training. The partnership seeks to integrate the engineering and manufacturing capabilities of Embraer with these wide capabilities.
“Regional aviation plays a vital role in economic development,” said Jeet Adani, Director, Adani Defense & Aerospace. “With UDAN improving connectivity across Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, building a domestic regional aviation ecosystem has become increasingly important. This partnership also deepens strategic ties between India and Brazil by bringing complementary capabilities together.”
According to Adani leaders, the project will generate employment opportunities of high-skilled workers in the engineering, manufacturing, logistics, and support services sector which will strengthen the presence of aerospace in India on the world stage. Embraer already enjoys good presence in India with almost 50 from 11 platforms of commercial, defense and business aviation. The carriers such as the Star Air and the Indian Air Force deploy several models of Embraer.
