The Indian electronics manufacturing sector is currently witnessing a major push. Optiemus Electronics, a subsidiary of Optiemus Infracomm, has joined hands with tech giant OnePlus to commence producing premium Internet of Things (IoT) devices of superior quality in India. The strategic partnership is formulated under OnePlus Project Starlight which is aimed at accelerating the localization of the company along with enhancing its supply chain within India.
The partnership has already started production with the OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z3 at the Optiemus facility. The manufacturing scope includes key IoT products such as truly wireless stereo (TWS) earbuds and wireless neckbands, well-known for their low latency and high audio performance. This move is set to lower costs and increase self-reliance through localized bill-of-material (BOM) sourcing.
"Our partnership with OEL to manufacture IoT products locally reflects our strong commitment to Project Starlight. This partnership is not only tech-focused, it is also about supporting the local community and living up to the idea of meaningful innovation and introducing the Indian community to smarter and more connected experiences," according to Robin Liu, CEO of OnePlus India.
“We specialize in transforming ideas into reality, and this partnership empowers us to manufacture high-quality IoT products. Together, we will continue to explore new frontiers and remain committed to playing a pivotal role in shaping the future of electronics manufacturing in India,” added Ashok Gupta, Executive Chairman, Optiemus Group.
The move aligns with India’s Make-in-India initiative and highlights the rising momentum in domestic IoT device production.
