NITI Aayog's Frontier Tech Hub unveiled today "Reimagining Manufacturing: India's Roadmap to Global Leadership in Advanced Manufacturing", a detailed plan aimed at positioning India among the top three manufacturing hubs worldwide by 2035.
The roadmap came into public view after being literally pulled out by the energy and leadership of Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister of Maharashtra. The launch event was graced by the presence of Ajit Pawar, Deputy Chief Minister, B.V.R. Subrahmanyam, CEO, NITI Aayog besides other dignitaries and officials.
By way of the 13 priority manufacturing sectors, the plan sets out the sector specific utilization of cutting-edge technologies to transform the manufacturing India model. It comprises of the sectors of health care, auto & auto components, consumer electronics, pharmaceuticals, telecom, and food processing among others.
By 2035 manufacturing would be India’s largest contributor to GDP of over 25% besides creating a massive blue ocean of more than 100 million jobs – the two key milestones Viksit Bharat at 2047.

In order to reinstate India’s manufacturing competitiveness, the roadmap proposes to overhaul the R&D landscape, upgrade industrial infrastructure, skill the workforce, and encourage technology adoption through a well-coordinated 10-year plan of action. If India fails to act, the report foresees a loss in manufacturing GDP of USD 270 billion by 2035 and USD 1 trillion by 2047.
“The manufacturing roadmap outlines a timely, clear, and bold action plan to create an advanced manufacturing power in India”, the CEO of NITI Aayog, Shri B.V.R. Subrahmanyam, remarked when emphasizing the urgency of the matter.
The project, realized with the help of CII and Deloitte, manifests India's synergic effort towards the leadership of manufacturing industry driven by innovation and international competitiveness.
