National Engineering Industries Ltd (NEI), the manufacturer of NBC Bearings and part of the CK Birla Group, has signed a strategic partnership agreement with iMRail Technology GmbH, Germany-based, to develop advanced mobility systems in India. The collaboration intends to create a domestic manufacturing ecosystem of innovative transport technologies such as low- to medium-speed Maglev trains, next-generation monorails, and ropeway networks besides the related sub-systems.
This alliance is a strategic move by NEI to step out of its conventional bearings business and into integrated mobility engineering. As per the deal, iMRail will infuse worldwide technology know-how and NEI will use its manufacturing, supplier network, and market development capabilities throughout India and the rest of the world.

The shared endeavour will be about inventing contemporary transport solutions for cities and mountains while being energy-efficient, cutting emissions, and having lower lifecycle costs by using lightweight materials and advanced engineering techniques. Moreover, the agreement will implement digital innovations such as smart control systems, condition monitoring gadgets, and automated safety features to improve reliability and passenger safety.
On the occasion of the partnership, Rohit Saboo, President, and CEO of NEI, remarked, "This accord is literally the turning point in our journey—the shift from just manufacturing components to providing complete mobility solutions." Maxim Weidner, CEO of iMRail Technology GmbH, also said, "The convergence of our technology with NBC Bearings' manufacturing proficiency will thus enable us to deploy sustainable transport systems at a much faster pace not only in India but also in other countries."
