Maruti Suzuki India Limited has emerged as India’s largest passenger vehicle exporter in 2025, recording its highest-ever annual exports of 3.95 lakh units. The figure represents a 21 per cent year-on-year growth compared with 2024 and marks the company’s position as the country’s leading passenger vehicle exporter for the fifth consecutive year, according to industry data.
The automaker’s export volumes were driven by sustained demand for Made-in-India vehicles across global markets. During the year, Maruti Suzuki exported vehicles to over 100 countries, covering regions such as Latin America, Africa, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. Its export portfolio comprised 18 passenger vehicle models, reflecting the company’s wide international product reach and strong overseas acceptance.
Company officials said the strong export performance highlights India’s growing role as a global automobile manufacturing hub. Managing Director and CEO Hisashi Takeuchi stated that the milestone underscores the competitiveness of Indian manufacturing and the acceptance of Maruti Suzuki vehicles in overseas markets. He added that consistent quality standards, scale efficiencies, and cost competitiveness have supported the company’s export growth.
A key development in 2025 was the start of exports of Suzuki’s first battery electric vehicle (BEV) from India, the e VITARA. The electric SUV has already been shipped to close to 30 international markets, primarily in Europe. The move aligns with Maruti Suzuki’s long-term plan to expand its presence in the electric vehicle exports segment using India as a production base.
Exports formed a significant component of the company’s overall performance during the year. Maruti Suzuki also reported its highest-ever total sales, crossing 2.35 million vehicles in 2025, driven by steady domestic demand and record overseas shipments.
