Casio India Unveils Locally Made Watches to Boost Market Presence

Casio India, a branch of Japan’s Casio Computer Co. Ltd., has rolled out its first line of watches made right here in India, a big move to strengthen its place in the country’s growing market.

Sales kicked off at the end of July, tying in with India’s “Make in India” push to promote local manufacturing. This step is all about making Casio’s products more accessible and tailored to what Indian customers want.

The company is producing 28 unique watch models in India, blending Casio’s signature Japanese quality with the benefits of local production. For now, three models are available through third-party stores, but Casio plans to bring more to the shelves soon. This follows their 2023 announcement to start manufacturing in India, showing their long-term commitment to the country since entering the market in 1996.

Takuto Kimura, Casio India’s Managing Director, shared his excitement: “India has always been a priority market for Casio, and we see immense growth potential here. Local manufacturing allows us to design products that resonate with the Indian mindset and lifestyle, ensuring agility in responding to evolving consumer needs.” This approach not only supports India’s manufacturing goals but also builds a stronger, more efficient supply chain.

These Indian-made watches mix Casio’s reliable technology with designs inspired by local fashion and practical needs, targeting the mid-to-premium market. With the festive season around the corner, Casio is gearing up to promote its “Made in India” collection, hoping to win over shoppers looking for quality watches with a local touch. Known for brands like G-Shock and Edifice, Casio has long been loved in India for its innovative and stylish timepieces.
