Ashok Leyland & PT Pindad MoU marks a fresh move in India–Indonesia industrial ties. Ashok Leyland, the flagship commercial and defense vehicle maker of the Hinduja Group, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with PT Pindad, Indonesia’s state-owned defense and industrial equipment company. The agreement was signed today at PT Pindad’s headquarters in Bandung.
The MoU sets the base for joint development and manufacturing of electric buses and defense vehicles designed for Indonesia’s mobility and national security needs. It brings together Ashok Leyland’s global experience in electric commercial vehicles and defense mobility platforms with PT Pindad’s strong engineering skills, local production scale, and deep links within Indonesia’s defense system.

The signing ceremony was attended by senior leaders from both sides. These included Prof Sigit P Santosa, Chief Executive Officer of PT Pindad, Amandeep Singh, President – International Operations, Defense, LCV & PSB at Ashok Leyland, and Lord Tariq, Advisor to the Board, Hinduja Auto.
Indonesia’s push toward clean transport and modern defense systems makes this partnership timely. The collaboration supports national goals around electric vehicle adoption, energy efficiency, and higher localization in defense manufacturing. The Ashok Leyland PT Pindad MoU also reflects growing trust between the two countries’ industrial sectors.
Speaking on the partnership, Amandeep Singh said, “Ashok Leyland has a long-standing track record of delivering dependable commercial and defense mobility solutions across global markets. Through this partnership with PT Pindad, we aim to co-develop platforms that are specifically suited to Indonesia’s terrain, infrastructure, and operational needs, while supporting the country’s sustainability and localization goals.”
