Blue Energy Motors (BEM) has launched a game-changing electric heavy-duty truck with battery-swapping technology, the first for India and the first step in the country’s clean transport revolution. Today at BEM's factory in Chakan, Pune, with a 10,000-unit annual production capacity, the truck was unveiled by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
In a related announcement, the Chief Minister also launched India’s first electric freight corridor on the Mumbai–Pune route, which is a pilot project in a three-year initiative to electrify high throughput freight networks on Indian highways This initiative is to reduce emissions, improve the efficiency of logistics and to help accelerate India’s Net Zero vision.

To address increasing demand, BEM signed an MoU with the Maharashtra government to set up a plant capable of manufacturing 30,000 electric trucks annually with a ₹3,500 crore investment; BEM is also in discussions to finalize multiple MoUs to deliver more than 10,000 electric trucks across the country.
BEM's electric truck, designed for Indian weather and quality of roads, is responsible for low total cost of ownership (TCO), a respectable payload capacity, and battery swapping to achieve almost zero downtime. This is achieved through a Battery-as-a-Service model that allows companies to implement electric transport with lower up-front costs and planning requirements.
Building off of the success of its LNG fleet business, Blue Energy Motors is helping transition India’s freight sector to the zero-emission future, coupling advanced technology and rapid scalability behind clean energy solutions.
