Tata Steel Limited has signed a major contract with John Cockerill India Limited to supply a new Push-Pull Pickling Line (PPPL) and Spray Roaster Acid Regeneration Plant (ARP) at the Tinplate Division, Jamshedpur, Jharkhand. The contract also covers complete engineering, equipment supply, and supervision for erection and commissioning.
The pickling line is targeted to handle 350,000 tonnes per year and the width of the strips should not be more than 1350mm with a maximum thickness of 3.8 and the speed should be 120 meters per minute. Among other things, the pickling tanks designed by Cockerill, double uncoilers, in-line trimmers, and V-shaped granite blocks, are the most innovative devices in the new plant. Through these, the facility assures the surfaces of the metal are free from scales and therefore suitable for further cold rolling and tin coating.
"It is a project that demonstrates the faith Tata Steel has in our technology", said Frederic Martin, MD, John Cockerill India.
Kishore Tar, Tata Steel’s Chief of Projects & Construction, added: "The installation will increase efficiency, lower the environmental impact, and strengthen our sustainable steel production leadership."
