UP-Japan investment plans gained a major automotive boost as Spark Minda announced a Rs 1,166 crore expansion in the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) region.
The company will establish two greenfield manufacturing units in Sectors 10 and 24, with the projects expected to create around 6,440 jobs.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath virtually inaugurated the groundbreaking ceremony during the UP-Japan Investment Meet 2026 in New Delhi.
The expansion will increase Spark Minda’s manufacturing capacity in mechatronics, vehicle access and connection systems. It will also deepen the company’s long-standing presence across the Noida-Greater Noida automotive manufacturing ecosystem.
The latest UP-Japan investment development strengthens Spark Minda’s existing manufacturing footprint in Noida and Greater Noida. As per the Economic Times report, the group already operates plants in the region that produce security systems, die-cast components and wiring harnesses.
The new units will manufacture ignition switch-cum-steering locks, mechatronic components and related connection systems. These products will expand the company’s capabilities across vehicle access and electronic-mechanical systems.
Spark Minda Group Chairman Ashok Minda said, “Noida has been home to Spark Minda since our early years, and this expansion is doubling down on that relationship.”
The investment therefore builds on an established manufacturing base rather than creating an entirely new regional presence.

The two greenfield plants form a major part of Spark Minda’s latest UP-Japan investment activity. The projects will involve Rs 1,166 crore and could create around 6,440 jobs. Yogi Adityanath virtually inaugurated the groundbreaking ceremony for both facilities during the investment meet.
Aakash Minda also added that the new YEIDA units will add manufacturing scale and employment while building on the company’s existing regional capabilities. The expansion comes as Spark Minda continues to grow its overall business.
Minda Corporation reported Rs 6,185 crore consolidated revenue in FY26, marking 22.3 per cent year-on-year growth. Its EBITDA reached a record Rs 721 crore. The wider Spark Minda Group operates 42 manufacturing plants and offices across six countries and employs more than 23,000 people.
Spark Minda’s UP-Japan investment push also connects with its planned partnership with Japan’s Toyodenso Co. Ltd. The company plans to establish a Noida plant through the joint venture to manufacture advanced automotive switches.
This development adds a Japan-linked technology dimension to Spark Minda’s manufacturing expansion. Toyodenso will bring advanced engineering and technology capabilities, while Minda Corporation contributes its localization expertise and supply chain ecosystem.
The wider Gautam Buddh Nagar region also continues to develop as an automotive and manufacturing hub. The upcoming Noida International Airport at Jewar, along with improving road, rail, RRTS and expressway connectivity, could support further industrial activity in the region.
