Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T), which collaborated with BAE Systems on the project, has inked a contract with the Indian Army to purchase BvS10 Sindhu vehicles. The original manufacturer of the BvS10 platform, BAE Systems sgglunds, will provide technical and design support to L&T as it produces the BvS10 Sindhu domestically at its Armoured Systems Complex in Hazira. A thorough integrated logistics support package for initial deployment, upkeep, and life-cycle sustainability is also included in the contract.
An improved version of the well-proven BvS10 articulated all-terrain vehicle; the BvS10 Sindhu has modifications made especially for India's climate and topography, including high altitude, desert, marshland, and amphibious conditions. The improved vehicle demonstrated outstanding performance in both sea-level conditions and high-altitude locales, competing in and successfully completing a series of rigorous testing.
"The BvS10's unmatched mobility, flexibility, and performance in extreme climatic conditions are critical attributes highlighted by the Indian Army," said Tommy Gustafsson Rask, Managing Director of BAE Systems Hägglunds. "We are proud to support India's defence modernisation through this licensing programme, which embodies our commitment to local manufacturing and technology transfer under the Make in India initiative."
