Embraer has signed a memorandum of understanding with Hindalco Industries to assess the feasibility of producing aerospace-grade aluminium in India, marking a fresh step in strengthening the country’s aviation supply chain.
The agreement focuses on studying the technical and commercial viability of manufacturing high-performance aluminium alloys used in aircraft structures.
The proposed collaboration will evaluate whether India can locally produce specialized aluminium required for critical aircraft components such as fuselage sections, wings, and structural parts. If successful, the move could reduce dependence on imports and support the government’s push to expand domestic aerospace manufacturing. The aerospace-grade aluminium in India initiative is expected to align with broader efforts to build a stronger industrial base for both civil and defense aviation.
