
The Board of Directors of John Cockerill has announced a leadership transition at John Cockerill, with François Michel deciding to pursue other professional opportunities for personal reasons. He will step down from his role on December 31, 2025. The Board expressed its appreciation for his commitment and contributions over the past three years, wishing him success in his future career.
To ensure seamless leadership continuity, the Board has appointed Jean-Luc Maurange as Chief Executive Officer, effective January 1, 2026. Widely recognised within the Group, Maurange previously led John Cockerill from 2018 to 2022 and currently serves on the Board of Directors and its subsidiaries, including John Cockerill Hydrogen, John Cockerill Defense and Rely.

His appointment supports strategic continuity across core business sectors, as he brings in-depth and current knowledge of the Group’s operations. Maurange also played a significant role in the recent acquisition of Arquus, further strengthening his familiarity with the Group’s evolving industrial portfolio.
John Cockerill reaffirmed its long-term multi-sector industrial strategy, spanning energy, hydrogen, defence and metallurgy activities, alongside industrial services and essential infrastructure. Despite global uncertainty, the Group highlighted the opportunities emerging across its diversified markets.
The Board reiterated its confidence in the existing management team and governance structure, thanking employees for their role in the ongoing transformation and growth of the Group. With this leadership change, John Cockerill aims to maintain operational stability while advancing its strategic vision in a complex international environment.
