Tata Steel has achieved a major milestone in modernizing India’s infrastructure sector with the introduction of the nation’s first Mobile Bore Pile Cage Machine and the inauguration of a fully automated Construction Service Centre in Guwahati, Assam.
These pioneering initiatives underscore Tata Steel’s dedication to driving innovation, enhancing operational efficiency, and supporting sustainable growth within India’s rapidly expanding construction landscape, particularly across the strategically significant North-East region.
The Mobile Bore Pile Cage Machine, unveiled at the Tata Semiconductor Assembly and Test Plant in Assam, has been developed in collaboration with TJK India, a global leader in reinforcement automation. This state-of-the-art mobile technology represents a breakthrough in on-site reinforcement fabrication for large-scale infrastructure projects.

Engineered for operational excellence, the system is designed to increase productivity, cut costs, minimize manual intervention, and deliver unmatched precision in meeting project requirements. Its mobility makes it especially advantageous in challenging terrains and remote areas, ensuring efficiency and consistency in project execution.
Complementing this innovation, Tata Steel also opened its first fully automated Construction Service Centre in Guwahati, developed in partnership with SM Corporation Limited.
Equipped with the capacity to produce 2,000 tonnes of reinforcement products per month, the centre initially focuses on Tiscon ReadyBuild pre-engineered Tata Tiscon TMT rebars with coupler threading. Over time, it will expand operations to include Welded Wire Mesh, evolving into a comprehensive hub for customized, high-quality construction solutions.
