Rapido, a ride-hailing platform, has entered the food delivery market with the release of Ownly, a stand-alone mobile application. The app is now available in a few locations, such as Koramangala, HSR, and BTM Layout. The recently released app will face competition from Swiggy, Zomato, and Magicpin.
The launch occurs just a few months after Rapido and India's National Restaurants Association (NRAI), which claims to represent over 50,000 restaurants, began discussions to finalize the terms and conditions (T&C) to bring restaurant partners on the platform. The NRAI asserted that the association wishes to pursue a third option since Swiggy and Zomato charge high commissions. The new platform, therefore, will be developed entirely on a zero-commission model. As per the terms exchanged earlier between NRAI and Rapido, the restaurant partners will pay the delivery charge for all orders (in a usual radius of four kilometers or less).

Delivery fees, however, will be Rs 10 if the order value is Rs 100 or less. Customers would be required to pay Rs 20 here. In other situations, the delivery fee will be Rs 25 plus a flat GST amount if the order value is between Rs 100 and Rs 400. Orders over 400 rupees will cost 50 rupees. A copy of the T&C had been examined by Business Standard. At the platform level, Rapido had around two million captains in May 2025. Additionally, the business intends to reach 500 cities by the end of the year with its services.
