On the second day of SEMICON India 2025, Prime Minister Modi and Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw made their way through the exhibition hall, and where better to highlight India's semiconductor strength.
The Prime Minister was engaged in everything from developments of small startups to demonstration of global technology leaders to make it clear that India's semiconductor ecosystem is coming into its own.
One of the biggest attractions was the Startup Mitra Pavilion, designed as part of IESA's Startup Mitra initiative developed to facilitate innovation and collaboration among those in India's ESDM (Electronics System Design and Manufacturing) ecosystem.

Startups participating in the pavilion had considerable access to mentorship, policy development, patent assistance, and investor networks. In addition, the members of SEMI India and IESA supported these startups by providing components and testing equipment to illustrate the ecosystem was ready to help kickstart ventures.
In terms of industry impact, the Prime Minister took the time to interact with innovators including people such as Vrinda Kapoor, Pratap Narayan Singh, Gautam Kumar Singh, Anantha Kinnal, and Jyothis Indirabhai. He also appeared to pay particular attention to a presentation given to him of a high-performance computing chip that asserts a 80% reduction in energy consumption, not surprising given his very strong focus on sustainability and energy-efficient semiconductor solutions.
The Prime Minister also explored booths from major global and Indian players—LAM Research, Micron India, Tokyo Electron, KLA-Tencor, Tata Electronics, CG Semi, IBM, ASML, Kaynes Technologies, Applied Materials, Delta Electronics, and Disco Hi-Tec—as well as country pavilions representing Japan, Singapore, Korea, and Malaysia, highlighting India’s increasingly pivotal role in the global semiconductor supply chain.
