Godrej Agrovet has declared that it has entered into a big contract with Maharashtra State Rural Livelihoods Mission to empower over 5, 000 women farmers and mobilize sustainable agriculture in the main cotton-producing areas of the state.
This is a three-year partnership, which was announced on January 20, 2026, and focuses on enhancing the productivity levels on the farm and the development of stronger rural livelihoods through a combination of training and practical assistance to women growers.
According to the deal, Godrej Agrovet and MSRLM will commence operations in nine cotton-producing districts such as Nagpur, Amravati, Yavatmal, Washim, Parbhani, Jalgaon, Beed, Akola and Nanded. The program will access more than half a million farmland and will involve 100 Self Help Groups (SHGs) in every district as part of the first year, which will serve over 5,000 women farmers. The program will be expanded to cover more than 5,000 SHGs in Maharashtra in the entirety of the three years.

It now pays attention to practical training in Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and Integrated Pest Management (IPM) to enable the farmers to maximize harvest, enhance the health of their crops and reduce expenses associated with their investments. The workshops, demonstration plots and farmer field schools will be planned, and the safety packages would be offered to the participants. MSRLM will be used to organize and mobilize SHGs and its Krishi Sakhi network, whereas Godrej Agrovet will fund and execute the activities.
Sunil Kataria, CEO and Managing Director of Godrej Agrovet, said the partnership aims to equip women farmers with “practical high-impact agronomy” to help raise yields and uplift their families. The plan is not limited to cotton; it will expand into crops like maize and others as the program grows.
This program denotes a larger strategy to enhance sustainable agriculture in rural Maharashtra through skills training and resource support that can advance output, stability and long term flourishing.
