India’s solar energy market is entering a more mature phase, with rooftop and distributed solar becoming increasingly relevant for households, businesses and commercial establishments. As adoption grows, customers are looking beyond installation costs to factors such as system performance, component quality, engineering and after-sales support. In such a market, long-term value and trust are becoming as important as price.
This is where Solars4U has established its position. With more than 2,000 customers and projects across Gujarat, Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh, the company has built its business around a straightforward proposition: understand the customer, deliver quality and remain accountable beyond project completion.
Its approach reflects a belief that a solar installation should be treated as a long-term asset rather than simply a product sale. At the centre of this journey are Managing Director Sonia Behl Vishal Chaudhary and CEO Vishal Chaudhary, whose complementary leadership has shaped the company’s people-centric culture, customer philosophy and growth strategy.
A Customer-Centric Foundation
The roots of Solars4U’s business philosophy can be traced to experiences outside the conventional solar industry. Sonia Behl Vishal Chaudhary brought to the business extensive professional experience from the retail industry. During her association with SSIPL Retail Limited, a master franchisee for globally recognised brands including Nike, Levi’s and Lotto, she headed the Human Resources function.
Working at the intersection of people, organisational culture and major consumer brands gave her a strong understanding of how motivated teams and consistent customer experiences contribute to sustainable businesses. This experience subsequently became an important influence on Solars4U’s approach to people and service.
CEO Vishal Chaudhary, meanwhile, began his professional career with ICICI Bank in retail banking, where the organisation’s customer-centric culture, particularly its ‘Khayal Apka’ philosophy, influenced his thinking about customer relationships. After leaving banking in 2012, he worked on consulting assignments involving land acquisition and green-asset development for solar PV projects in India and overseas.
Together, Sonia and Vishal brought two complementary perspectives to Solars4U: a people-led approach to building an organisation and a customer-led approach to building the market. These principles continue to influence how the company engages with employees, customers, channel partners and other stakeholders.
The emergence of rooftop solar and net metering around 2014–15 presented an opportunity to bring this experience directly to customers.
Encouraged by accountant Mrigender Kumar Bakshi, the company began focusing more strongly on the retail market, taking up solar projects for households, small businesses and commercial customers.
The early years were not easy. The market was highly price-sensitive, while quality components and technically sound installations often required a higher initial investment. Solars4U chose not to compete purely on price. Instead, it viewed a solar plant as a long-term income-generating asset whose real value would be determined by performance over several years.
That conviction gained credibility as its early installations crossed the three-to-five-year mark, reinforcing the company’s belief in dependable systems over short-term cost advantages.
Designing Solar Around the Customer
Solars4U does not approach solar as a standardised product. Its process begins with understanding the customer’s consumption, infrastructure, future requirements and compliance considerations before developing a solution. The company focuses on selecting components with an emphasis on durability, sustainability and long-term performance, while customising systems to suit the realities of individual sites.
“This focus on execution is central to Solars4U’s differentiation. Even the right technology can underperform if the installation is poorly engineered or executed. Consequently, we place considerable emphasis on technically capable teams and disciplined project delivery”, says Vishal Chaudhary, CEO.
Equally important to this execution model is the organisational culture driven by Sonia. Drawing on her HR and retail leadership experience, she has played a key role in ensuring that employees understand the responsibility associated with each installation. A project, in this philosophy, represents not merely equipment and engineering but a customer’s money, expectations and long-term trust.
“Last-mile quality is possible only when people are skilled, motivated and take ownership of what they deliver. Our responsibility is to create a culture where our teams understand the value customers place in every project and carry that responsibility through execution and service”, says Sonia Behl Vishal Chaudhary, Managing Director.
The company’s interpretation of ‘Khayal Apka’ therefore extends beyond customers to employees, channel partners and stakeholders. While Vishal’s experience has helped shape its customer and business approach, Sonia’s people-management foundation strengthens the internal culture required to deliver that promise consistently. Customer satisfaction, accordingly, does not end when a system is commissioned; continued responsiveness and service remain integral to maintaining confidence.

Growing Through Quality and Relationships
For Sonia and Vishal, growth needs to extend beyond business volumes. Their leadership philosophy recognises that sustainable expansion requires employees, channel partners and stakeholders to progress alongside the organisation. This shared outlook has helped Solars4U balance commercial growth with the development of the people and relationships supporting its operations.
“The company’s more than 2,000 customers remain an important part of this journey. We consider satisfied customers our strongest brand advocates, particularly in a market where trust and referrals can influence adoption”, shares Vishal.
The quality-led approach aligns with the broader evolution of India’s solar industry, which increasingly requires companies capable of supporting systems throughout their operating life. Solars4U aims to contribute through reliable execution, quality components and sustained after-sales support.
Building the Next Phase of Growth
The company’s immediate priority is to strengthen its service network in existing markets. Over the next 18 months, Solars4U plans to introduce initiatives focused on improving service capabilities and customer confidence while gradually entering new territories.
Over the next three years, it aims to develop the capability to serve customers across almost every part of India. However, expansion will remain linked to operational preparedness, ensuring procurement, installation and service infrastructure grow alongside its geographical footprint. Under the shared leadership of Sonia Behl Vishal Chaudhary and Vishal Chaudhary, the company intends to scale without losing the people-centric and customer-centric values on which it has been built.
