German engineering excellence has long been the yardstick for innovation rooted in precision, efficiency, and durability. Their manufacturing process has attracted global attention and even envy, as nations across the world try to achieve similar calibre. German machinery manufacturers based in India play a pivotal role in powering domestic industries with solutions designed uniquely for specific industry and business needs. As industrial expansion sweeps over India, the demand for efficient and customized machines is rising. A pioneering force in this segment is Hein, Lehmann India, the Indian arm of the prominent Hein, Lehmann, excelling in process technology.

Andree Stockhowe, Director, Hein, Lehmann
Established in 1878 by a merchant Max Hein and engineer Anton Lehmann, Hein, Lehmann serves diverse industries with its superior solutions focused on screening technology, separating technology, and conveying technology. Since entering India in the 1990s through representations and technology collaborations, the company has targeted major industry gaps through its cutting-edge solutions. But, the challenge lay in having essential technical parts supplied from HL, Germany. Setting up domestic capabilities in 2015, the company started developing 95 percent of the screen parts in India, reducing import dependence, and holds 50 percent market share in an extremely competitive industry.

Introducing Advanced Technologies
Driven by the objective of creating high-efficiency solutions leveraging sophisticated technologies, Hein, Lehmann has designed a range of cutting-edge systems for diverse sectors. It introduced high-efficiency Liwell Flip Flow Screening Machines in India, which enabled the firm to run Captive Power plants all through the year. Renowned for its innovative bent, the company has patented a lot of its unique solutions, such as its Flip Flow screening machines. In fact, Hein, Lehmann Germany has even patented the term ‘Flip Flow’ in German language as well.
Taking innovation up a notch, Hein, Lehmann introduced the latest in screening technology with its Liwell S Flip Flow Screens. These performance-focused machines outperform any other similar machines with the same functionality, and are competitively priced as well. The ISO 9001-2015 certified company designs and manufactures all machines as per the Hein, Lehmann Germany specification, ensuring accurate development.
“From screening technology to separating technology to conveying technology – our first-class products can be customized and used in such versatile ways that they can be deployed in almost all industries. The combination of decades of experience in various industries with our keen interest in future technologies of all kinds, has made our work successful for more than 140 years”, shares Partha Banik, Managing Director, Hein, Lehmann India.
Beyond India, Hein, Lehmann India’s products are exported to various other countries including China, UAE, Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, and more, demonstrating the superior solutions that only it can provide. With zero complaints from these solutions, the company has established its distinction in the global market. Alongside machines, Hein, Lehmann also offers complete solutions such as a complete plant, as it did for Reliance Industries. The firm has also worked with large-scale engineering groups like Hindustan Zinc Fertilizers for which it provided crusher and screen solutions through Larsen & Toubro Construction.
“In recycling too, our know-how, our quality products, and our ability to think outside the box at an unconventional level lead to innovative solutions that render a wide variety of recycling processes more efficient”, adds Partha.
Customer-Centric Innovations

Committed to innovation, the group differentiates itself from global competitors by continuously launching new solutions that elevate industry operations and efficiency. Furthering innovation, the company is working towards recycling and green energy on a global level, exploring areas like waste to heat.
However, within India, its focus is more targeted towards the coal preparation, steel, infrastructure, and mining sectors. Its Liwell Flip Flow Screens have elevated the industry operations cost-effectively. The screens have worked successfully with ready mix concrete providing good return on investments. Additionally, its ability to segregate 150-micron aggregate products economises cement consumption.
