India’s rapid electrification push is driving localization of critical EV components, as suppliers position themselves closer to demand from global and domestic OEMs.
In line with this shift, Tata AutoComp Systems Ltd has entered into a joint venture with Korea’s Jahwa Electronics to manufacture advanced low-voltage and high-voltage PTC heaters for electric and hybrid vehicles in India.
The development underscores a larger transformation in the automotive ecosystem, where thermal management technologies are gaining prominence amid rising EV adoption and hybrid vehicle expansion.
PTC heaters play a crucial role in battery efficiency and cabin heating, making them vital for performance across diverse operating conditions. As OEMs scale investments in electrification, demand for such components is expected to grow significantly, strengthening India’s position as a manufacturing hub.
The joint venture aims to combine Tata AutoComp’s strong domestic footprint with Jahwa’s global expertise in specialty electronic components, supporting localization while reducing supply chain dependencies. It also aligns with India’s broader push to build a resilient EV supply chain and attract global investments into advanced automotive technologies.
Chanyong Kim, CEO Jahwa Electronics said: "With domestic automakers and global OEMs aggressively scaling investments in electrification, India's electric and hybrid vehicle markets are expanding rapidly. This is a critical juncture for us to establish a firm market entry foundation as a key supplier of both high-voltage and low-voltage PTCs.
"Forging this venture with Tata AutoComp is a deeply strategic decision; the Tata Group's formidable market influence, business scale, and exceptional corporate credibility ensure we secure a stable foothold and drive sustainable growth across the region," he added.
Arvind Goel, Vice Chairman, Tata AutoComp Systems said: "I am confident that our partnership with Jahwa Electronics, a globally recognized leader in specialty electronic components, will help introduce innovative sustainable solutions to the evolving mobility landscape of India."
