Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced on Saturday that the Delhi government would offer subsidies to citizens in order to encourage the adoption of electric vehicles in the city as part of its new policy. In her farewell speech at the Aironomics, 2025 convention, she outlined the various air pollution-fighting initiatives of the Delhi government.
Transformation of all the vehicles, including private ones, into electric vehicles (EVs) is a big vision for which Delhi government is coming up with a new EV policy, she said. "We will urge people to purchase electric vehicles for which they will be provided subsidies," she said.
Key highlights:
Gupta added that her government is hiring 1,000 water sprinklers to fight dust on the roadways all year round because air pollution is a year-round issue that calls for consistent efforts.
"In view of traffic, these sprinklers will operate in early morning and late night hours so that no congestion is there on the roads," she said.
