Jindal Stainless Strengthens Bangalore Metro Phase 2 Steel

Jindal Stainless, the largest stainless steel manufacturer in India, is proactively involved in the Bangalore Metro Phase 2 project by providing high quality 301N austenitic stainless steel. This initiative indicates how the company believes in augmenting the expanding urban infrastructures of India with long-lasting sustainable materials.

Recently the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) inaugurated the Yellow Line of Phase 2 under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Jindal Stainless has sold 1,031 metric tonnes of stainless steel to be used in such critical components as metro coach roofs and structural frames. This is a corrosion-resistant, lightweight, and durable steel that has been ideal in the production of a metro system that is reliable, with low maintenance. As the project proceeds, the company will provide additional steel which will assist in increasing the metro network in Bangalore.

Jindal Stainless does not have a new project in its belt, as it has 85% stake in the Indian railway industry. They have provided steel used in large metro systems in Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai and Mumbai and also overseas systems in Sydney, Queensland and Montreal. In the case of Bangalore Metro Phase 2, they have collaborated with CRRC Titagarh Consortium to recently supply three trainsets on a 53 trainset contract that would enhance the transportation system in the city.

This project fits into Jindal Stainless’s bigger goals of sustainability, including running a green hydrogen plant in Hisar and aiming for net-zero emissions by 2050.
