Drone technology startup Garuda Aerospace said Thursday that it had won many high-value contracts from several government agencies in Jharkhand, Tamil Nadu, and Gujarat. With these agreements, the company's "Drone-as-a-Service" (DaaS) model has expanded significantly, especially in the vital mining industry.
Garuda Aerospace has recently won contracts from the Central Mine Planning & Design Institute (CMPDI) and the Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation Limited (GMDC), building on its prior successful partnership with Odisha Mining Corporation Ltd. Additionally, the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) and the Department of Geology and Mining (DGM) of Tamil Nadu awarded contracts to the company. The company has also obtained tenders from the Jharkhand Exploration and Mining Corporation Limited (JEMCL), demonstrating its reach in that state.

The main objective of these extensive agreements is to survey and oversee mine leases across the country using drones. Garuda Aerospace will supply quarterly updates on mining conditions (including faces, roads, slopes, and dumps), yearly surveys for comprehensive imagery and elevation models, and reliable data processing services as part of these contracts. For clients like the DGM of Tamil Nadu and GMDC, the Chennai-based company will also be crucial in developing digital databases needed for mine closure planning and producing accurate survey maps for decision-making that include both new and existing lease areas for long-term operational efficiency.
