Delta Electronics Ramps Up India Plants Amid Semiconductor Growth

Delta Electronics is set to significantly expand its manufacturing footprint in India to support the country’s growing semiconductor and electronics sector, aligning with the government’s 'Make in India' initiative.

“India is at an inflexion point in manufacturing, especially in semiconductors and electronics, and expanding our factory base is a natural step to support this growth,” said Sanjeev Srivastava, Business Head - Industrial Automation SBP, Delta Electronics India, on Tuesday.

The move comes amid India’s push for self-reliance in semiconductors through initiatives like the Indian Semiconductor Mission (ISM) 1.0 and 2.0. Srivastava noted that Delta has already started producing various products at its factories and plans to further expand to meet rising demand. “In the last couple of years, we have seen that semicon has become the buzzword in the industry,” he added.

The sector is creating opportunities across the semiconductor value chain, including both front-end fabrication and back-end testing and assembly. “We have the fab units as well as the OSAT, which is the testing and fabrication as well,” Srivastava explained, highlighting the parallel growth in manufacturing capabilities. Early investments from companies like Micron and Tata are strengthening industry confidence in India’s semiconductor ecosystem.

Delta’s industrial automation division is ready to support multiple segments, including semiconductors, electronics, automotive, machine tools, and plastics. “We have components, what I call as we have the entire basket, so we are able to cater to the shop floor requirements,” Srivastava said. The company also emphasizes end-to-end visibility, enabling management to track operations from shop floor to top floor.

As India accelerates its semiconductor ambitions under ISM 1.0 and 2.0, Delta’s factory expansion, automation, and digital solutions are poised to play a key role in the country’s industrial growth.
