Bharat Forge Limited (BFL), India's largest forging and advanced engineering group, has entered into a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with UK-based Windracers Limited to introduce and localise Windracers ULTRA UAV-a high capacity UAV-in India.
The signing of this MOU was formalised today at DSEI UK 2025 in London, which represents a significant milestone in aerospace collaboration between the two countries.
The two-year MOU addresses localisation, joint trials and a roadmap towards ULTRA service in both India's defence and civil aviation sectors. The partnership is a key enabler in the UK-India Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and the larger India-UK Vision 2035 objectives to advance aerospace technology transfer and innovation.

Simon Muderack, CEO of Windracers, stated, “Working with Bharat Forge allows us to expand ULTRA’s dual-use operations, leveraging years of R&D to deliver strategic benefits and operational autonomy for India’s defence and civil stakeholders.”
Amit Kalyani, Joint MD of Bharat Forge, said, “This partnership with Windracers strengthens India’s indigenous UAV capabilities while providing robust solutions for high-stakes logistics in challenging terrains.”
ULTRA UAVs are capable of six to seven hours of endurance, with an advanced multi-mission autopilot that exceeds similar product standards. ULTRA capability has now been positioned to sustainably support the Carrier On Board Delivery (COD) operations for the Indian Navy, this represents a critical logistics capability for the Army and Air Force, and to execute demanding missions, for example from island territories to the extreme environment in the Himalayan region. The ULTRA has already demonstrated its resilience and adaptability in international missions, including Antarctic research.
