The goal of Atlas Copco's Remanufactured Equipment Program in India is to return used engines and compressors to their pre-existing performance levels. The program's goals are to increase the lifespan of equipment, decrease total ownership costs, lessen the impact on the environment by using sustainable practices, and supply high-performance, industry-grade refurbished machinery.
Under this project, the first fully restored compressor has been delivered, signaling the start of a larger plan to provide dependable, bespoke solutions that meet industry standards. The initiative sets itself apart by providing remanufactured machinery that performs on par with new machinery at a substantially reduced cost. Customers gain from lower capital costs, quicker lead times for equipment, improved durability, and access to the newest technology advancements. The availability of reliable and application-specific compressors is anticipated to provide operational and financial benefits to industries like mining, oil and gas, water well drilling, and construction.
The first step in the remanufacturing process is a comprehensive inspection of the returned equipment to determine which parts need repair and to gauge its general condition. The apparatus is then thoroughly dismantled into its component pieces. Every part is meticulously cleaned to get rid of impurities, grime, and residues that could shorten its lifespan or impair its function. After being cleaned, parts are closely examined for wear, damage, or fatigue to see if they require replacement or can be reused.
New or reconditioned parts that satisfy strict quality standards are used to replace worn-out or damaged parts. After that, the apparatus is carefully put back together, making sure every component fits and works as it should.
Thorough performance testing is carried out upon reassembly to confirm the device is dependable and make sure it satisfies the original requirements. Finally, to improve longevity and return the equipment's external appearance to like-new condition, protective coatings and a high-quality finish are applied.
Every product comes with a warranty that covers it against manufacture and design flaws. By using certified technicians, authentic spare parts, and adherence to ISO guidelines, the program maintains strict quality standards.
Prasanna Kulkarni, General Manager of the Power Technique Customer Center at Atlas Copco (India), stated “The Remanufactured Equipment Program reflects our long-term strategy focused on sustainability, operational reliability, and customer value. By reusing existing materials and components, we not only optimize production costs but also advance responsible resource utilization.”
