Tata Technologies has announced that its battery intelligence platform, WATTSync, is fully prepared to support India’s upcoming Battery Aadhaar digital identity and traceability framework.
With the nation heading towards a single and QR-coded system to enhance the visibility and compliance throughout the battery lifecycle, WATTSync stands as a solution that is ready to operate in the future. The platform is also kept on track with the EU Battery Regulation (EU BR 2023/1542), which assists companies to trade freely in the international markets.
As India prepares to roll-out a standardized 21-character Battery Pack Aadhaar Number (BPAN), WATTSync can be used to create, administer, and combine unique battery identifiers in the production, usage, and disposal phases of a product. The system is reflective of international digital battery passport standards making it interoperable in India and Europe.

Secure data access underlies the Battery Aadhaar framework. The QR-code-enhanced digital identity engine of WATTSync offers access to dynamic and static battery data under control. Its data model represents a static data model, which supports obligatory fields, like manufacturer information, battery specifications, material components, chemistry and carbon footprint. The platform, which is based on EU-compliant architecture, also deals with extended sustainability and environmental reporting.
WATTSync is directly integrated with Battery Management Systems to provide support to all types of dynamic requirements, such as State of Health, charge-discharge cycles, and thermal events. Its cloud-ready, microservice-based architecture allows to ingest a large amount of data and perform real-time analytics, which makes companies prepared to both Indian and European reporting frameworks.
