The Indian Navy’s indigenously developed Shivalik-class stealth frigate INS Sahyadri was accorded a cordial reception on its arrival at Sasebo, Japan.
Commanded by Captain Rajat Kumar, the vessel is in Japan to take part in the Japan-India Maritime Exercise (JIMEX), aimed at enhancing naval cooperation and interoperability between the two nations (JAIMEX-25).
Through a post on X on Tuesday, the Indian Embassy in Tokyo said, "INS Sahyadri arrived at Sasebo to a warm welcome ceremony by JMSDF Sasebo District. Sahyadri commanded by Capt Rajat Kumar is participating in Japan-India Maritime Exercise - JAIMEX 25."
In the context of the defense collaboration between the two nations, INS Sahyadri also visited the Maritime Self-Defense Force's Sasebo base located in southwestern Japan, as reported by Japan's Kyodo News.

Following an opportunity for its crew to rest and restock their supplies, the frigate is anticipated to leave the port in Nagasaki Prefecture on Friday.

According to an official statement from the Indian Navy on Saturday, the Indian and Japanese naval forces successfully completed the harbour phase of the Japan-India Maritime Exercise (JAIMEX-25).
The phase included a range of activities such as cross-deck visits, professional exchanges, and a joint yoga session, all aimed at deepening mutual understanding, camaraderie, and operational cooperation between the two navies.
