
President Droupadi Murmu is set to commence a six-day, two-nation foreign tour beginning Saturday, during which she will visit Angola and Botswana. From November 8 to 11, her visit to Angola will focus on enhancing cooperation between the two nations in the energy sector.
Angola ranks as the second-largest energy supplier in Africa, while India holds the position of Angola’s third-largest buyer of oil and gas. In the fiscal year 2022–23, bilateral trade between the two countries reached $4.2 billion.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Murmu’s trips to Angola and Botswana are indicative of India’s increasing engagement with the African continent, with which New Delhi maintains a total trade volume of $100 billion.
“Angola has a large segment of arable land, and they are very keen that Indian expertise and technology in agriculture can be utilised by Angola,” Dalela added.
Additionally, he stated that as part of Project Cheetah, India is working with Botswana to relocate cheetahs. India is one of the biggest buyers of raw diamonds from Botswana, a sign of the two countries' expanding economic and conservation cooperation.
