TVS Motor Company, a leading manufacturer of two- and three-wheelers, has announced the appointment of Sudarshan Venu as its new Chairman and Managing Director, effective August 25, 2025. Venu, who has served as the company’s Managing Director since 2022, will succeed Sir Ralf Speth, who will transition to the role of Chief Mentor for a three-year term. This leadership change marks a significant milestone in the company’s succession plan, aligning with its vision for global growth and innovation.
Sudarshan, the son of Chairman Emeritus Venu Srinivasan, has already left his mark on TVS. He’s been the driving force behind the company’s expansion into places like Africa, Latin America, Europe, and Southeast Asia. Plus, he’s all in on electric vehicles (EVs), with a goal for EVs to make up 25-30% of TVS’s two-wheeler sales in just a couple of years. To make that happen, TVS is pouring ₹5,000 crore into new tech, including fresh EV designs and even a three-wheeler, showing they’re serious about eco-friendly rides.
Venu Srinivasan couldn’t be prouder, saying, “Sudarshan has demonstrated tremendous growth for the business. I am confident he will take the company to even greater heights.” Sir Ralf Speth, who’s moving to the mentor role, feels the same, thanking everyone for their support during his time as chairman and backing Sudarshan to keep TVS’s values strong while sparking new ideas. The company’s recent ₹2,000 crore investment in Karnataka for a Global Capability Centre and a test track shows they’re not slowing down.

This change also ties into a 2024 family agreement within the TVS Group, involving Sudarshan and his sister Lakshmi Venu, Vice-Chairperson of TAFE. The deal keeps their businesses separate to avoid stepping on each other’s toes. With Sudarshan leading the way, TVS Motor is ready to keep pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in the world of mobility.
