Ahmedabad’s upcoming 16‑floor railway station is set to transform how India travels, marking a major step in modern mobility.
The project, which is set to be completed by July 2027, is being constructed as a complete multimodal hub that will incorporate bullet trains, metro connectivity, conventional rail and buses services into one single area.
The new complex will anchor the Mumbai–Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) corridor, which is the first Japanese-supported bullet train route in India.
The station elevates on the Western Railway platform 10, 11, and 12 thus providing the passenger with direct access to Kalupur Metro Station to facilitate easy and fast transfers. This is the place where the first Shinkansen-style bullet-train will run, reaching the speed of 320km/h using the E5 Series technology in Japan, and reducing dramatically the time between Ahmedabad and Mumbai.

The building is a tribute to the spirit of the city, architecturally. Its ceiling is reminiscent of the sky of Ahmedabad with kites in Uttarayan and the front is reminiscent of the splendid Jaali of Sidi Saiyyed. The modern engineering combined with the traditional design is meant to make a bold architectural masterpiece in the city center.
The new 16-floor complex will be in the form of an entire urban center, unlike the old railway stations. It will be equipped with an exclusive bullet train station, metro, long distance and local trains, and enhanced bus services. Indoors, the commuters will have offices, retail areas, malls, lounges, and better waiting areas with enhanced parking and enhanced last-mile connections.
The hub is expected to work with much bigger volumes of passengers in the future. As the surrounding neighborhoods are being redeveloped and easier ways of getting there are being built, the project is set to increase the local business, attract more tourists and make Ahmedabad a major travel hub in the region.
