Shares of Paras Defence and Space Technologies Ltd rose sharply on Wednesday after the company announced a collaboration with South Korea’s Green Optics Co., Ltd. to develop optical systems for defence and space applications. The stock gained nearly 11 percent in intraday trade following the announcement, drawing investor attention to the partnership and its possible impact on the company’s technology capabilities and market opportunities.
The two companies have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to create a framework for cooperation in the development, manufacturing, and supply of optical and electro-optical systems. These technologies are used in a range of defence and aerospace applications, including surveillance platforms, targeting systems, imaging devices, and satellite-based equipment used in space missions.
Paras Defence brings experience in defence engineering and specialised manufacturing, while Green Optics is known for designing and producing precision optical components. By combining their technical strengths, the two companies plan to work on new optical technologies that can support modern defence platforms and space systems.
The announcement triggered strong buying in the stock market. Paras Defence shares climbed to around ₹750 during the session, compared with the previous day’s closing price, reflecting investor interest in companies linked to India’s defence sector and aerospace industry. Defence stocks have been gaining attention in recent years as the government continues to promote domestic manufacturing and strategic partnerships in advanced technologies.
Industry observers say partnerships between Indian and international technology companies are becoming more common as defence systems require specialised components and engineering capabilities. Optical and electro-optical systems are important for modern military equipment, including drones, missile guidance, reconnaissance systems, and satellite payloads.
Paras Defence designs and manufactures high-precision products for defence and space programs. Its clients include major Indian government institutions such as the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). The company operates across several segments including defence optics, defence electronics, and heavy engineering.
