Paras Defence and Space Technologies Ltd secured a fresh INR 80.28 crore order from the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) to build a high‑precision optical system for air defense applications, the company said in a regulatory filing today.
The contract, awarded by the DRDO — the research arm of India’s Ministry of Defense — marks a notable win for the firm in the country’s defense technology space.
The project is set to be executed over the next 18 months from the date of the supply order, reflecting a tight timeline for delivery of these critical systems. Paras Defense clarified that neither the promoter nor the promoter group holds any interest in the awarding entity, and the contract does not qualify as a related‑party transaction.

High‑precision optical systems are vital for modern air defense platforms, helping with detection, tracking, and targeting of aerial threats. This order strengthens Paras Defense’s position in India’s defense manufacturing ecosystem and underscores its capabilities in advanced optical engineering and defense solutions.
The company’s recent financials also show steady growth, with net profit rising over 21 percent and revenue up 24 percent year‑on‑year in the December quarter, indicating improving business momentum alongside the new DRDO project. However, Paras Defense’s share price was trading lower on the announcement day, reflecting mixed market reactions even as the order book grows.
This domestic DRDO order adds to Paras Defense’s growing portfolio of contracts and showcases its role in supporting India’s push for technological self‑reliance in defense. Investors and industry watchers will be keen to see how the company delivers on this project and leverages it for future growth.
