The satellite communication industry in India is ready to attain a new stage of expanding capabilities since Nelco, part of the Tata Group that focuses on satcom services, has finalized its partnership with Eutelsat to expand OneWeb low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite coverage across the country. This partnership with OneWeb India Communications, a local operating company of Eutelsat, will provide secure low-latency connectivity to land, maritime and aviation sectors inside and across the Indian landmass, territorial waters as well as the remote geographies.
The program would be in line with the industry trend of bridging connectivity, strengthening its digital infrastructure, and enabling the key government and business applications. Nelco has confirmed operational readiness to launch services immediately upon the commercial activation of OneWeb’s LEO network in India.
