Rajiv Ranjan Singh Israel Visit Highlights Fisheries Growth

Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh Israel visit is set to take place from January 13 to 15, highlighting the deepening strategic and economic engagement between India and Israel, according to an official statement released on Monday.

The visit is an indication of a new initiative to reinforce collaboration in fisheries and aquaculture sectors which have become increasingly important to both countries.

In the course of the visit, Singh will visit the Second Global Summit on Blue Food Security: Sea the Future, with an invitation by Israel Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Avi Dichter.

The summit will also involve world policymakers and professionals to deliberate on sustainable solutions to food security that is associated with oceans and aquatic resources. The visit of the Rajiv Ranjan Singh Israel is likely to strengthen the old relationship between the two nations and also introduce new possibilities of partnership and cooperation.

Other than the summit, the minister will also have a bilateral meeting with Dichter and other international ministers who will be attending the conference. Topics of policy alignment, institutional partnerships, sustainable fisheries management, modern technologies in aquaculture, research collaboration, capacity building and partnership in R&D of advanced aquaculture will be discussed. They are also expected to be dominated by trade, investment and the blue economy agenda which focuses on sustainability, climate resilience and food security.

Singh will also hold meetings with CEOs of major Israeli firms and startups in the agriculture, fisheries, and aquaculture areas and visit major innovation centers and institutions reflecting the Israeli ecosystem driven by technology.

In the meantime, the exports of seafood in India reached a high of Rs 62,408 crore in 202425, with fish production increasing to 197.75 lakh tonnes, which is 106 percent higher than the last 10 years.
