In the era of stressed freshwater sources, water must be disinfected reliably, reused intelligently, and managed with resilience. However, chemical- heavy treatment models reveal their fragility through supply dependence, safety risks, and cost volatility. This is the problem space Pristine Water Solutions has spent two decades navigating.
A New Perspective on Water Disinfection
Pristine Water Solutions is an electrochemical water and wastewater treatment engineering company that specialized early and then expand outward from a core electrochemical philosophy. The firm’s primary focus remains disinfection, one of the most critical stages of the treatment cycle. However, its approach differs fundamentally from conventional models built around transported and stored chemicals.
Instead of relying on chlorine gas or commercial hypochlorite, Pristine Water Solutions’ systems generate disinfectants on-site using electricity and readily available raw materials such as salt or seawater. “Our equipment produces a disinfectant using ordinary salt; by passing an electric current through it in a process known as electrolysis.
Sodium chloride is converted on-site into sodium hypochlorite, an effective and widely used disinfectant”, says Ravi Chandran, MD at Pristine Water Solutions. The resulting solution is lower in concentration than commercially supplied chemicals but significantly safer to handle and more stable in real-world operating conditions, eliminating dependence on hazardous logistics and reducing operational risk.
From Rural Pipelines to Power Plants
Founded in 2003 as a dedicated electrochemical water treatment company, Pristine Water Solutions grew out of decades of experience in gas based chlorination systems. Over time, the firm scaled from small rural drinking water installations to some of the largest electro chlorination systems operating in India, including high-capacity units deployed at coastal power plants that rely on seawater for cooling.
Seawater applications have become a defining strength. In thermal power stations, biological growth reduces cooling efficiency and directly impacts generation output, while offshore oil and gas platforms face similar challenges compounded by distance and isolation.
In these environments, Pristine Water Solutions’ systems convert what is already present, in the seawater, as salt into an effective disinfectant, requiring no consumable chemicals and only electrical input. The same logic extends to fire water systems, desalination plants, and marine infrastructure where reliability and safety matters as much as the end result of disinfection, which make Pristine Water Solutions a trusted name in the field of disinfection.
An R&D-led Path to Scale
The firm’s electrochemical foundation has widened into a broader portfolio that includes chlorine dioxide generation, mixed oxidant disinfection, silver-copper ionization, and electrolytic cooling water treatment, alongside modular and containerized units designed for rapid deployment in remote or infrastructure-constrained locations.
More recently, the firm has turned toward wastewater recovery through electrocoagulation and electro-oxidation, enabling industrial effluents to be treated with minimal chemicals and water to be reused, addressing environmental compliance and resource efficiency.

Despite this widening scope, Pristine Water Solutions’ internal orientation has remained consistent. Research, design, and engineering continues to sit at the center of decision-making, shaping a growth strategy that balances turnkey water and effluent treatment systems with the long-term goal of reducing chemical dependence altogether and providing a sustainable disinfectant alternative to chemical based disinfectants for drinking water.
