Currently, Indian refractories market is at Rs 11,000 crores including Imports and is expected to grow by 10- 11 percent for the next 4 to 5 years. Refractory manufacturers are divided into various categories. While, some focus on the manufacturing of basic refractories others focuses on manufacturing high alumina refractories (shaped and unshaped). Mahakoshal Refractories Pvt. Ltd. based in Katni District of Madhya Pradesh in India is an example of one company that is leading this segment with its shaped and unshaped high alumina refractories.
For over 25 years, Mahakoshal Refractories Pvt. Ltd. has established its high alumina products and services with steel, cement, non-ferrous, fertilizer and petrochemicals Industries. “We have the ability to supply complex shapes, quality products for critical applications like Blast furnaces, BF stoves, cement kilns, aluminum anode baking furnaces and smelters, power plants, boilers and also for other critical applications”, says Arvind Gugalia, Managing Director at Mahakoshal Refractories. The company’s state of the art plant, fully equipped laboratory and emphasis on R&D gives it the cutting edge in terms of compliance with all international quality standards such as ASTM, DIN, ISO, BIS and more.
Mahakoshal Refractories Pvt. Ltd. Is upgrading its product range continuously in both shaped & unshaped refractories in high alumina segment. Mahakoshal Refractories currently manufactures 65K MT of various types of high alumina shaped refractories, 40K MT of unshaped refractories, and 20K of High Alumina cements annually. “Apart from this we have raw materials calcination capacity of 30K MT for internal consumption,” adds Arvind Gugalia.
"Mahakoshal Refractories is now a well established domestic brand with excellent customer relationships. Mahakoshal Refractories Pvt. Ltd. was established in 1968 in Katni to manufacture stoneware pipes. Slowly Mahakoshal Refractories Pvt. Ltd. Moved from manufacturing stoneware pipes to High Alumina Refractory products. In 2011, the company created a new facility (second unit) at village Gudri in Katni district. This facility occupies an area of more than 2,50,000 sqm to manufacture high alumina cements, refractory bricks and refractory castables in the most modern presses and automatic batching circuits.
