Touted to be the next global manufacturing hub, India has been witnessing a flurry of industrial activities happening countrywide, resulting in a heightened demand for water & wastewater treatment, oil & gas and energy & power industries today.
However, given the critical nature of industrial setups across not just these but almost every other vertical as well, there is a continuous need to have efficient mechanisms in place to control the flow of water, gas or any other media for smooth and safe functioning of the equipment.
Thus, the industrial valves market has been showcasing a hockey stick growth lately. As per Mordor Intelligence, the Indian industrial valves market which is currently estimated at $2.58 billion is expected to amount to $3.62 billion by 2030, growing at a CAGR of seven percent during the forecast period.
While there are a myriad of manufacturers currently operational in this dynamic market, one company that stands a notch higher than the rest is Lehry Valves. Based in Chennai, Lehry Valves was established in 1950 as a family run business engaged in the distribution of power tools with a keen focus on Valves in 1980 representing famous Indian and foreign brands through and acing the supply chain and distribution sales, Later in 2006, the company started valve manufacturing producing Mechanical Isolation and Control Valves. The company has grown significantly since then and is today strongly positions as one among the leading and most sough-after players in the control valves segment.
Sharing his thoughts on the current market scenario, Hussain Lehry, Director (Product Development), Lehry Valves says, “With the increase in high rise buildings and townships which comprise single water tank for multiple houses, there has been an increase in the use of high-pressure pumps and complex piping systems lately. Thus, there’s a huge demand for control valves today to ensure that the water reaches every household without any issue, and this demand will no doubt continue in the future as well”.
Control Values for Every Need
With two decades of legacy in the valves manufacturing space, Lehry Valves boasts of having a manufacturing setup spanning 160,000 sq. ft area and comprising of two state-of-the-art forging machines that provide a combined production capacity of 8,000 valves per shift.
Due to such top-class manufacturing capabilities, it offers a wide range of products that include gate, globe & check valves, pressure reducing valves, control & safety relief valves, strainers, steam traps, and many others. Being its primary forte and flagship area, the company offers control valves mainly across three categories, namely Public Health Engineering, Fire Protection Services and Heating, Ventilation & Air-conditioning (HVAC).
Lehry Valves also provides a unique Smart Water Metering Solution that facilitates real time flow monitoring and even alerts the users in case of any unusual water consumption through push notifications, email and SMS. Comprising of hardware, software and Wi-Fi connectivity, this end-to-end solution uses mechanical water meters with tamper detection capabilities to restrict back flows and reduce chances of inaccurate readings.
Furthermore, this unique solution is not only incorporated with a mobile application to
enable users to track usage and make bill payments, but is also customisable as per the customers’ unique requirements. Additionally, it also is equipped with cutting-edge data analytics capabilities to help users identify water consumption patterns, compare historical data even predict future demands.
“Specialising in the utility segment which majorly concerns the water industry, our control valves ensure that the water reaches the right place at the right time in right quantity and at the right pressure. Since most of the products are manufactured in-house, we maintain ample spares for the elastomer, which is the most common cause for failures and cannot be reused once tightened. As a result, we’re able to replace the elastomers at our clients’ site at a fraction of cost of the complete control valve housing”, says Hussain.
Quality & Client-centricity – The USP
Always keeping customer satisfaction as paramount, Lehry Valves leaves no stone unturned to ensure that its clients get the best quality service. In light of this, the company’s designers get in touch with the clients’ team right at the design stage of the project, understands the application as well as their exact requirement and even helps them in the selecting the right kind of valve, handholding them all through the project cycle, from installation to commissioning and final handover. Further, it also has a robust after-sales support team that stays in constant touch with the customers and ensures that all their requirements are being met in an efficient manner.
We are Water Warriors at Lehry Valves, delivering quality through controlled flow and pressure with our valves, saving water every day
Well aware of the importance of precision and durability in the control valve’s performance, Lehry Valves uses soft seated materials such as NBR, viton and teflon to maintain the tolerance levels within limit and ensure zero leakage. Additionally, it only uses NSF approved rubber and SS 304 stainless steel in its production process so that the products are suitable even for drinking water applications.
To further help its clients, the company also has a detailed video of the installation process and an O&M manual for its products so that customers can refer to them and use the product effectively without any installation errors or damages.
“Our in-house design team not only uses advanced software and technologies to design the products, but a lot of R&D is carried out in terms of simulating the functionality of the media of the application on the software before testing it in a live scenario.
We have also developed a flow-to-pressure chart to help the engineers understand the pressure loss across the value for any media and select the right kind of valve without having to do any physical calculation using formulae. As an icing on the cake, we also conduct numerous training programs to ensure that everyone including the technical and installation teams are aware of the product functionality, enhancing our after-sales support by a great extent”, Hussain further explains.
Speckless Business Journey
Owing to such industry benchmark practices and exceptional track record, Lehry Valves boasts of catering to an elite clientele comprising of globally renowned names across both government and private sectors such as BHEL, SAIL, ONGC, Tata Housing, Mahindra Life space, Brigade Group, Apollo Hospitals, Nestle, Dalmia Bharat Cement, Infosys, Wipro, Ford, Renault, Hyundai, and Nissan, to name a few.
As a standing testament of its expertise in the field, the company is also working with Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) on developing a code of standards for control valves in the Indian market specific for air, oil and gas media so that domestic companies can now manufacture products at par with these BIS standards rather than follow British or American standards.
When asked about what the future holds for Lehry Valves and the industry as a whole, Hussain says, “With water supply projects comping-up all across the country, the control valves industry is huge and has immense potential going forward.
By providing our technical expertise and quality products, we envision capturing at least 5-7 percent of the Indian control valves market by 2030 and play an active part in as many water projects as possible. Most importantly, we’re looking forward towards the incorporation of India’s first lead-free brass ball valve code which will ensure that each and every household will have clear, unadulterated lead-free water”.
