Green energy projects are driving demand for supporting water and wastewater infrastructure.
VA Tech WABAG has secured a repeat order from Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) for an Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) in Jamnagar.
The order falls in WABAG’s Rs 100 crore to Rs 250 crore “Medium” domestic order category. The project will be executed at RIL’s Dhirubhai Ambani Green Energy Giga Complex (DAGEGC) in Jamnagar, Gujarat.
WABAG will manage the project from design and engineering through manufacturing, supply, erection, and commissioning.
The company is scheduled to complete the project within 13 months. The latest contract also strengthens WABAG’s ongoing relationship with RIL.
The new Effluent Treatment Plant will use chemical and biological treatment technologies. It will also include sludge treatment based on low-temperature drying.
The treatment system is intended to support efficient management of industrial wastewater at the complex. WABAG will handle the project’s full execution scope.
The order includes:
WABAG has described the contract as a repeat order from RIL. The company said the order reflects RIL’s continued trust in its capabilities.

"This repeat order reinforces our long-standing relationship with RIL, a key customer, and reflects the continued trust and confidence RIL places in our capabilities," said Sivakumar V, Senior General Manager - Sales and Marketing, India Cluster, WABAG.
The contract comes as WABAG continues to expand its presence in industrial and municipal water treatment.
The company has secured several projects in India and overseas in recent months. These include wastewater treatment projects and a major desalination project in Kuwait.
In July, WABAG reported an order from the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board for two energy-efficient wastewater treatment facilities. The company also signed the contract for Stage II of the Doha SWRO desalination plant in Kuwait last month.
The latest RIL order is particularly significant for WABAG because it adds another industrial water treatment project to its portfolio. It also shows the role of wastewater infrastructure in large industrial and green energy developments.
WABAG’s shares gained nearly 3 percent to Rs 2,064 on the NSE during Monday’s trading session after the order announcement.
The project highlights how large-scale energy and industrial facilities increasingly require dedicated water treatment systems. For RIL, the ETP will form part of the supporting infrastructure at its Jamnagar green energy complex.
