Vikram Solar’s battery and energy storage arm PowerHive has rolled out its new VION lithium‑ion battery range, marking a bold expansion beyond its core solar panel business into distributed energy storage for both electric mobility and home backup power. The launch opens a new chapter in how the company serves India’s growing demand for reliable and efficient energy solutions.
The VION lithium‑ion battery lineup arrives with five key products across three categories, including inverter batteries for home backup systems, integrated inverter‑battery solutions, and batteries tailored for e‑rickshaws and other light electric vehicles.
With capacities ranging from 1.2 kWh to 15 kWh, the VION range is designed to keep lights, appliances, and even air conditioners running during power outages, while also supporting electric mobility applications where dependable energy storage matters most.

These batteries boast strong performance figures, including up to 3,000 life cycles and around 97% efficiency, along with safety‑focused designs and warranties extending up to 60 months. The home backup models offer flexible backup durations and are built to be lightweight and quick to charge, making them practical for everyday use.
"The launch of our VION battery solutions marks an important step in Vikram Solar's evolution from a solar manufacturing company to a provider of integrated clean energy solutions. With VION, we are expanding our role across the energy value chain, bringing together generation and storage to enable more reliable, resilient and accessible clean power solutions," said Gyanesh Chaudhary, CMD, Vikram Solar.
In addition to domestic backup solutions, the VION range includes a dedicated 5 kWh battery for e‑rickshaws, reflecting PowerHive’s intent to support the electric mobility ecosystem in India with robust, compliant energy storage. This launch already comes with strong market traction, as PowerHive has secured a 100 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) order, highlighting early commercial interest and confidence in its new product range.
"At PowerHive, we build energy storage that works in the real world, not just on spec sheets. India's power needs are changing fast, and reliable storage is now as essential as generation," said Arun Mittal, CEO, VSL PowerHive.
With this move, Vikram Solar is positioning itself as a broader energy solutions provider, blending its solar strength with advanced storage technology. The company’s expanded footprint into the energy storage space shows its commitment to clean, resilient power infrastructure and supports India’s transition toward a more stable and sustainable energy future.
