STEER World, a global leader in materials transformation technologies, today announced the unveiling of its netiBIO Alpha Series, a next-generation bio-processor designed to transform biomass pretreatment for India’s rapidly expanding bioenergy sector.
The machine was showcased at IBET 2025, organised by the Indian Federation of Green Energy (IFGE), which featured participation from key Union Ministers, including Nitin Gadkari, Prahlad Joshi, Hardeep Singh Puri, and Sripad Naik, underscoring the Government of India’s strong commitment to scaling up clean energy and compressed biogas (CBG) initiatives.
India’s current CBG projects face significant challenges due to the use of untreated, fibrous biomass, which results in low methane yields and prolonged digestion cycles. While smaller plants in Europe typically process softer feedstock such as corn or hay, Indian projects demand large scale, continuous pretreatment solutions to handle tougher biomass like paddy straw, Napier grass, and other lignocellulosic feedstock.

The netiBIO Alpha Series directly addresses these challenges with its compact footprint, modular design, low CAPEX and OPEX, and high efficiency pretreatment capabilities. Built specifically for India’s tough biomass conditions, the system:
At IBET 2025, netiBIO Alpha drew strong crowds as it successfully processed Napier grass and paddy straw, showcasing how advanced fiber engineering opens tough biomass structures to create process ready feedstock at scale.
Leadership Commentary
“India’s bioenergy sector is at a tipping point, but real success depends on overcoming the bottlenecks of feedstock pretreatment. With netiBIO Alpha, we are offering a Make-in-India solution purpose-built for India’s tough biomass: compact, efficient, and scalable. It not only improves methane yields and project viability but also enables a farm to fuel model that benefits farmers and the environment alike,” said Nitin Gupta, Executive Director & Global CEO, STEER World.

“Unlike European conditions, India’s CBG projects require large-scale pretreatment of fibrous residues like paddy straw and Napier. netiBIO Alpha bridges this critical gap with a small footprint, modular design, and low CAPEX/OPEX, ensuring faster ROI for operators while contributing to the fight against stubble burning and emissions,” said Rajaraman C, Chief Operating Officer, STEER World.
Advancing India’s Bio-Energy Transition
The unveiling of the netiBIO Alpha Series reinforces STEER World’s commitment to driving the farm-to-fuel ecosystem in India, where crop residues are transformed into income streams for farmers and clean energy feedstock for operators. While designed for India’s unique challenges, Alpha is scalable to other biomass-rich regions worldwide, delivering a truly “Make in India for the World” solution.
