Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a Navratna public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Defence, announced that it has won a major order worth Rs 633 crore from Cochin Shipyard Limited. The deal demonstrates that BEL continues to be a front-runner in the supply of sophisticated electronic systems and solutions to the Indian Defence sector.
The first is a supply contract for a full complement of electronic devices, such as sensor systems, weapon systems, fire control units, and communication systems. These are the key components for the improvement of the power of the naval platforms to implement the latest technology. The devices are also part of BEL's ongoing domestic defence production drive.
BEL is a leader in defence electronics, and it is pushing the technological frontier in the production of high-tech electronics and systems for the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force. The company has been a regular source of future-ready technology solutions that strategically and operationally address the needs of the armed forces.

The order is for Cochin Shipyard, an elite shipbuilding and ship repair facility in India. Its main projects are the building-fabrication of ships of different types and the repair, refit, and life extension of ships, thus forming the backbone of India’s maritime defence infrastructure.
The conjunction between BEL and Cochin Shipyard is the main point of this story which shows the coordination and cooperation among domestic defence manufacturers and ship-building companies and is a strong push towards self-reliance in India's defence production under the ”Atmanirbhar Bharat” initiative.
The event of a successful discharge of the contract is expected to make India an even stronger strategic power while local innovation and technological excellence in the defence sector will be nurtured and promoted.
