Nothing, a global consumer technology company, Carl Pei, CEO, declared that CMF, the sub-brand of Nothing, would be an independent subsidiary brand with its head office in India. This step makes India the center of CMF's operations, research, and development, and their manufacturing.
Pei conveyed the progress after his meeting with Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister for Electronics and IT, emphasizing Nothing's desire to create CMF as the first asynchronous consumer tech brand of India. "From India, to the world. With our end-to-end capabilities, we are the only ones capable of bringing this vision to life," Pei wrote on X.
As a part of this strategic expansion, Nothing has announced a joint venture with Noida-based Optiemus, with a total investment of more than $100 million committed over the next three years. The JV will create more than 1,800 jobs in India. Besides, it will primarily produce IoT products locally, including earbuds and smartwatches, to meet the domestic and international demand.
Ashok Gupta, Chairman of the Board of Directors at Optiemus, expressed, "Through this relationship, we will be able to increase our world-class manufacturing capacities and manufacture various export-ready products that have been designed in India.

The fact that global brands are selecting India to establish their manufacturing operations is the proof of how strong is the Indian ecosystem as well as initiatives like Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat.”
The partnership deals with the inclination of global consumer tech brands to make use of India's innovation and manufacturing ecosystem. This puts India in the limelight as a strategic location for high-tech production and a supplier of the global market.
