Ather Energy has expanded into Sri Lanka's rapidly growing Electric Vehicle market with its launch of the Rizta family scooter at the Colombo Motor Show 2025.
The electric two-wheeler manufacturer stated the launches signals a new milestone in its global expansion, only a year after the brand became available in that island nation.
Ather entered Sri Lanka in December 2024 with Evolution Auto Pvt. Ltd as its authorized distributor. With people accepting and adopting EVs we consider it a significant international market. Ather's introduction of the Rizta ultimately aims to grow their portfolio and provide an additional option of reliable electric mobility for families in urban locations.

In its filing, the company said the launch builds on its larger global strategy—one focused on taking proven products to markets that show strong EV potential. “Since entering Sri Lanka last year, it has quickly become a growing market for us, and expanding our portfolio here with the Rizta felt like the natural next step,” Ather Energy Chief Business Officer Ravneet Singh Phokela said.
The Rizta has performed well in India for over a year and was recently introduced in Nepal. Phokela said, “We believe it is well-suited for the needs of Sri Lankan riders as well.” Ather’s earlier international entry began with Nepal in November 2023, where it now operates nine experience centres and seven service centres.
For Sri Lanka, the launch signals that EV demand is no longer limited to early adopters. With Ather Energy adding the Rizta to its lineup, the market is set to see stronger competition, wider product choices, and a faster shift toward clean mobility.
