The global healthcare landscape is evolving rapidly, with cell and gene therapy and nanostructure materials driving the next wave of innovation. As India emerges as a hub for personalized medicine and biotech advancements, nano-sensor technology is transforming diagnostics by offering fast, accurate, point-of-care detection for analytes like vitamin D3, cortisol, gas sensors and cancer biomarkers.
Yet diagnostic developers still face inconsistent sensor performance, high production costs, and low sensitivity. By engineering nanostructured materials for stronger molecular binding, 3K NANO creates faster, more sensitive, and more affordable diagnostic sensors.
The Guiding Light
3K NANO was founded by Dr Partima Solanki, who serves as Non- Executive Director. The company began as an LLP in 2021, was converted into a Private Limited entity in 2023, is registered in Delhi, and is incubated at the Atal Incubation Centre Foundation for Innovation (AIC-JNUFI), Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. It is also virtually incubated at IKP Knowledge Park, Hyderabad, and is on-boarded with Wadhwani Group Foundation. The company is accelerated by the 3DEXPERIENCE Lab, Dassault Systèmes, to develop new material technologies on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
Dr Solanki is also a faculty member at JNU’s Special Centre for Nanoscience and leads research on nanostructured-material-based biosensors for healthcare diagnostics. With extensive academic and R&D experience, she has published 250+ peer-reviewed articles, holds 18 patents, and has edited five books. “At 3K NANO, we turn breakthrough research into scalable technologies that create real-world impact”, says Dr Partima Rathee Solanki, Founder & Non- Executive Director, 3K NANO.
Pioneering Nanotech Solutions
3K NANO specializes in nanotechnology, point-of-care diagnostics, and clean energy solutions, offering a broad portfolio of products, services, and R&D collaborations for academic and industrial clients.
Its key offering includes screen-printed electrodes, currently in beta testing for sensor applications, and an electrochemical Vitamin D biosensor based on these electrodes, supported under the Biotechnology Ignition Grant (BIG), BIRAC, Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Delhi. The company also produces nanostructured materials such as gold nanoparticles, silver nanoparticles, and carbon quantum dots, including customized applications like waste-derived carbon quantum dots for a petroleum industry client.
3K NANO has developed a DNA isolation kit that has reached commercialization, with regulatory documentation in progress. In clean energy, it is developing anion exchange membranes for hydrogen generation through an Indo- Singapore collaboration under the Technology Development Board (TDB), Department of Science and Technology (DST), New Delhi.
The company also conducts skill development workshops in diagnostics and nanomaterial fabrication. Its strengths include in-house R&D, cost-effective technologies, and cross-sector innovation.
Next-Gen Diagnostics
3K NANO is developing next-generation biosensors for critical health diagnostics. Beyond glucose sensors, the only widely commercialized option, there is a major need for affordable biosensors for biomarkers such as cholesterol, vitamin D3, and cancer markers.
To bridge this gap, the company is creating cost-effective, sensitive, and rapid electrochemical biosensors using nanostructured materials for both clinical and home use. A key focus is its vitamin D3 sensor, designed to reduce testing costs by 90 percent. While clinical validation and hospital testing are time-intensive, 3K NANO remains committed to advancing each development stage toward full commercialization of its diagnostic technologies.
The Path Ahead
3K NANO is developing an in-house sensor strips and a multiplex MIP-based detection system for cost-effective, portable diagnostics. Alongside, it’s expanding anion exchange membrane research for hydrogen generation and strengthening custom nanomaterial R&D to drive next-generation sustainable innovations.
